Pakistani nurses are eligible to apply for a nursing license in Ireland after completion of few tasks and after the completion of these task Pakistani nurses will also be eligible to apply her/his immigration to Ireland. Firstly you will need to go through the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) registration process for nurses trained outside of the European Union (EU). Here is a detailed guide on how to do this:

Step 1: Ensure You Meet the Eligibility Criteria

Nursing Qualification: You must hold a recognized nursing qualification that is comparable to the standards in Ireland. The NMBI will assess your education and training.

Current Registration: You need to be currently registered or licensed as a nurse in Pakistan without any restrictions. You will need to provide a Certificate of Good Standing from the Pakistan Nursing Council.

Work Experience: While not always explicitly stated as a strict requirement, having some post-qualification nursing experience can be beneficial.

English Language Proficiency: You must demonstrate a high level of English language competence. The NMBI accepts scores from the following tests taken within the last two years:

IELTS Academic: Overall score of 7.0, with a minimum of 7.0 in Listening, Reading, and Speaking, and at least 6.5 in Writing.

OET (Occupational English Test) for Nurses: Minimum grade B in Listening, Reading, and Speaking, and at least C+ in Writing. The NMBI will verify your test results directly with the testing organization.

Step 2: NMBI Assessment

The NMBI will review your application and all the submitted documentation to assess if your qualifications and experience meet the standards required for registration in Ireland.

The NMBI may request further information or clarification during the assessment.

Step 3: Outcome of Assessment

Once the assessment is complete, the NMBI will issue a decision letter outlining the outcome. There are several possible outcomes:

(2).Partial Eligibility – Adaptation or Aptitude Test: If there are differences between your qualifications and Irish standards, you may be required to undertake a compensation measure. This could involve:

(3).Adaptation Programme: A period of supervised clinical practice in an approved healthcare facility in Ireland (typically 6-12 weeks).

(4).Aptitude Test: An examination that assesses your theoretical knowledge and clinical skills. The Aptitude Test in Ireland is conducted by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). It consists of a theory test (multiple-choice questions) and a practical test (OSCE – Objective Structured Clinical Examination).

(5).Refusal of Registration: In some cases, if your qualifications and experience are deemed significantly different, your application for registration may be refused. But you have the right to appeal this decision.

Step 4: Apply for Registration

Once you have successfully completed any required compensation measures, you can apply for registration as a nurse with the NMBI.

This involves submitting further documentation and paying the registration fee (currently €145 for the first year).
