Immigration To Canada For Dentist

A Pakistani dentist is generally eligible to apply for a license in Canada, but they will need to go through a specific process to have their qualifications recognized.

1.National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB) Equivalency Process:
For dentists who have trained in a country not recognized by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC) or the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) – which typically includes Pakistan – the primary pathway to licensure is through the NDEB Equivalency Process. This process assesses whether an international dental graduate’s education and training are equivalent to those of a Canadian-trained dentist.

The NDEB Equivalency Process usually involves three examinations:

1.Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge (AFK): This is the first exam and tests your foundational dental knowledge.

2.Assessment of Clinical Judgment (ACJ): This exam assesses your ability to apply clinical judgment.

3.National Dental Examination of Clinical Competency (NDECC): This is a clinical skills exam.

Once you have successfully completed all three examinations of the NDEB Equivalency Process (AFK, ACJ, and NDECC), you will receive an NDEB Certificate of Qualification.Having this NDEB Certificate is the essential prerequisite for applying for registration with the Alberta Dental Association and College (ADA+C), which is the regulatory body for dentists in Alberta.
