Academic Credentials
A university level education in physical therapy is required. Academic credentials must be assessed by the Canadian Authority. The Authority will assess your academic credentials to determine if your education is equivalent to Canadian physical therapy education standards. The credentialing process can take from 10 to 18 weeks to complete. The Credentials assessment fee is between 1200 to 1600 Canadian Dollar which will be paid by Candidate by himelf or herself.
Outcome Of Assessment
The outcome of the assessment will be 3 types
- Major Gaps
If you do have Major Gaps then
Applicant is not eligible to apply for the Physiotherapy Competency Exam (PCE). - Minor gaps
Applicant may be eligible to
address gaps through work
experience in Canada. - Not Substantially Different
Good News For Pakistani Physiotherapist
After your academic credentials January 2026, the current two-exam system (written exam followed by a clinical exam) will be replaced with a single-step licensure exam, known as the Canadian Physiotherapy Examination (CPTE).
Exam Will be Held Remotely In Pakistan:
All candidates, including physiotherapists from Pakistan, are eligible to sit the exam from outside Canada. The CPTE will be a computer-based, remotely proctored exam.
Success Rate Of Exam Of Pakistani Physiotherapist
The success rate of Pakistani Physiotherapist in the PCE exam is 43 Percent.
Temporary Licence Phase Out
After passing The Canadian Physiotherapy Examination (CPTE). Now one more good news is that now the provisional Registration is also phase out and now after passing the exam the Pakistani physiotherapist will be granted full licence. While 24 Months Supervised practice is no longer available.
Full Registration
If you pass the Ne Physiotherapy (CPTE) then you will get your full licence.
Employment Options
You can also consider working in Alberta in related occupations such as Physical Therapist Assistant, Exercise Assistant or Rehabilitation Assistant.
Language
IETLS Or any other Language Test like OET is mandatory.
