Pathway To Hong Kong for Pakistani Nurses

Registration and Enrolment Requirements

A. Registered Nurse

  1. An applicant trained outside Hong Kong :
    1. should have completed a course of theoretical and practical training for nurses at a hospital-based nursing school for a period of not less than 3 years; or
      a pre-registration nursing programme of not less than 3 academic years at a university, college or polytechnic; or
      any other programmes of nursing, specially designed for candidates having a different qualification or experience while joining the programme as approved by the Council from time to time, e.g. conversion programme for enrolled nurses;
    2. must possess a valid certificate to practise nursing issued by such certifying body as may be recognized by the Council from time to time as evidence of competency to practise nursing; and
    3. must pass the Licensing Examination for Registration, and if required, to undergo such further training as the Council may specify.

B. Enrolled Nurse

  1. An applicant trained outside Hong Kong :
    1. should have completed at least 2 years’ formal full-time training in nursing outside Hong Kong of a type acceptable to the Council;
    2. must possess a valid certificate to practise nursing issued by such certifying body as may be recognized by the Council from time to time as evidence of competency to practise nursing; and
    3. must pass the Licensing Examination for Enrolment and, if required, to undergo such further training as the Council may specify.

Application Procedure

The applicant should complete the application forms and enclose originals and photocopies or notarized copies of the following: A. Nursing graduation certificate. B. Valid certificate of practice from the nursing council.

Deadline of application

While applications are processed all year around, only those duly completed applications with all the required documents received by the Council by the end of October each year will be assessed and the applicants concerned will be notified whether they are eligible to sit for the Licensing Examination to be held next year.

Examination Arrangement

  1. Format:
    1. The Licensing Examination for registration and enrolment consists of the written and practical parts. There will be no exemption for any part of the Licensing Examination.
    2. The applicant must pass the written part before he/she will be allowed to take the practical part, and must pass both parts of the Licensing Examination before he/she can register/enroll with the Council.

Schedule of Licensing Examination

  1. Written Part for Examination for Registration will be conducted in March and September and October for registered Nurse
  2. While Licensing Examination for Enrolment will be conducted in January/February and June March August/September.
  3. The Secretariat will inform eligible applicants of the details of the application procedures and payment method for the Licensing Examination in writing directly.
  4. The examination fee is HK$860 for the Licensing Examination for Registration and HK$920 for the Licensing Examination for Enrolment. Fees are subject to revision and are not refundable

Completion of Exam

After completion of exam the Nurse will be eligible to be registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse and he/she will be eligible to work in Hong Kong and after that he/she will also be eligible for apply immigration of Hong Kong.

Kinds of Nurses

There are three kind of Nurses those who can apply registration 1. General Nurse. 2. Psychiatric Nurse. 3. Sick Children Nurse.
