Pathway to Canada For Lawyers

No matter how much experience you may have in the legal profession in your home country, you must complete Canada’s licensing process to become a lawyer. You do not need to be a Canadian citizen or permanent Canadian resident to enter the Licensing Process or to be called to the bar and become a lawyer in Canada. At every step of this process.

NCA Certificate For Lawyers

International or Pakistani Lawyers must obtain a Certificate of Qualification from the NCA that verifies that their academic training is equivalent to Canadian academic training. The NCA assessment takes into account your academic credentials and your professional experience.
The NCA will assess your academic qualifications and will either provide you with a Certificate of Qualification or will advise you that you need to take further education and/or examinations to obtain your Certificate of Qualification.

Required Steps

) Submit Application for Assessment of Legal Credentials
b) Submit required documentation
c) Remit assessment fee ($350.00)

The assessment process will be completed in approximately 6 – 8 weeks after all documentation is received by the NCA office. If the NCA issues you a Certificate of Qualification, there is no further cost at this stage. If you are required to take further education or examinations, The NCA will assign you minimum 5 Compulsory Exam which will be conducted online and fee for each Subject is 300 Canadian Dollars.

STEP 2 Articling And PREP/ Law Admission

Once you have obtained your Certificate of Qualification, the next step is to complete 52 weeks of articling with a lawyer and to successfully complete the Practice Readiness Education Program.

Articling and PREP/Law Programs must be undertaken in the same time period. You may register for and complete the Foundation Modules of PREP before you have a confirmed articling position, for a non-refundable fee of $2,000.

Exemptions from Articling

You may be eligible for an exemption for up to six months from the articling requirement based upon your practising experience and your NCA assessment. If you have more than 5 Years experience then you may get exemption from both requirements and you will also be exempt from any fee.

Step 3 Admission as a Lawyer

Once you have successfully completed articling and PREP, you will be eligible to be called to the bar and admitted as a solicitor in Canada if you remain a person of good character and are fit and proper to practise law.

a) Submit application and petition for call and admission
(b) Remit call to the bar fee ($630.00)
(c) Submit application to commence active practice
(d) Certificate of completion of articles (if applicable)
(e) Submit final assessment of education plan
(f). Submit Exemption Letter

Average Salary in Canada

If you are working in a Law firm then your Minimum Salary Starts from 5,000,00 Pakistani and Maxim Salary 14,00,000 While in Personal Capacity there is no limit of Income.
